I don't know how she does it.
Therefore, at various times, a random assortment of ephemera finds its way into my possession.
I may explore the list at greater length another time. For example, I have in front of me right now the receipt for my Schwinn ten-speed from Lucy's Bike Shop. June, '68; I paid $57.95 plus $20 for my trade.
For the moment, I'm satisfied with the following:
Class pictures from my alma mater, Rattlesnake Grade School, Missoula, MT.
You probably didn't get here by accident so, while here, pee on the post.
If you're in one of the pics and don't say something... well, Great White Throne... divine judgment... just sayin'.
Also, if you know any others pictured herein, hook them up.
I need a big stable of identities to steal.
Kidding!
By way of playing fair, here's me - making a living, such as it is:
Plowshare Forge.
I also have a blog where I connect with my customer base and rant about things of interest to me at the moment - and generally complain about the sorry state of the world. I never said I was good at the connecting part.
Damn it, Jim. I'm a knife maker, not a marketing specialist.
Anyway, that happens here.
Three of these have text on the back that is linked to beneath them.
<img style="display:block; trying not to blow shit at this guy.
Seriously. His life isn't any worse than anyone else's but you wouldn't know it to hear him.
However, the lad's shit is pretty ragged at this juncture.
His pickup, purchased less than a year ago (I think), has gone seriously tits-up.
The lad's grounded, angry, at loose ends... Thank God he doesn't have access to firearms!
Oh, wait.
Fear not, he's found another focus for his clear-eyed intensity (read: A problem that follows his favorite theorem: "Whatever problem that cannot be solved with a gun is... is... IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!").
His focus is again upon that great menace, Lex Luthor to his Superman, his evil nemesis, the coyote!
I've explored his pathological relationship with these vital parts of the eco-system before.
Him and those indigenous canines just don't hit it off.
What's his problem with them?
Does he run sheep - I mean - other than his readers?
Really, this emotional screed (Quote from the Whored Nation: "Liberals are the party of emotion and Conservatives are the party of intelleck" {italics, mine - moronic misspelling, theirs}) is seriously impassioned don't you know.
You might also say, "Crazy", "Out There", "Nuts" or get the fuck out of the house, George.
Anyhoo, a lazy (ie can't/won't walk/bike anywhere - he's bummed, Yo) immobilized "force of nature" trolling for outrage can do no better than this:

Coyote Attack, Young Woman Dead:
This goes out to all those that hate Coyote Hunters – A beautiful and talented young woman was hiking in a National Park in Canada. Two coyotes attacked her and killed her. This tells me 3 things. First, I need to kill every coyote I see. Because of this, I'm going to increase my active coyote hunting and not miss an opportunity to do more of it. Coyotes need to fear Humans. Even around here, coyotes are becoming quite bold. I'll sort that out starting as soon as my truck is fixed. Second, we need to be able to carry arms in National Parks and Forests. A lot of people want that banned. Those people are idiots. It's real simple... when you leave your house, you should have a weapon on you. This poor musician girl didn't. She went outdoors, unarmed... she was food to the coyotes, not a threat. It is sad and unfortunate... and our hearts go out to her family and loved ones... I only pray that her death serves as a warning and a reminder that weapons keep us Free and Safe. Third, Canadians need to carry arms just as anyone else does. Just because you live above a certain parallel doesn't mean you are safe from attack from wild animals or other predators. I don't think these coyotes cared that she was Canadian. Yet several Canadians I've met, had the attitude that they would never need something like a handgun – because they were Canadian. The fact is, if this woman had a pistol, a small 9mm such as an M&P Compact... she would still be alive and perhaps even uninjured.

Whoa, that's a lot to digest.
Just a brief aside, one of the earmarks of a serotonin-based mental illness is a disproportionate emotional response - like the one illustrated above.
Coyote hunters, those unsung heroes of American freedom.
And here I thought they were just yahoos out for a bounty - oh wait, that's George.
Okay, let's have a reality break for the Bozo-cons:
First off, you may have noticed, that the "rancher"/coyote "dynamic" has been around for a bit.
They ain't kilt all them varmints over the past few hundred years.
I think the coyotes will be okay.
Where they're hunted aggressively, average litter size increases so you can keep your little psycho crusade going indefinitely, Bud.
Good for you.
Another humorous sidebar, The Killer's Youtube account is frozen because some of us liberal fucktards don't like his "Good 'ole Boyz Killin' the Little Animals" vids.
One guy in France sent him a death threat - in a youtube video comment!
Scary stuff!
Not to fear, Mr. Self-Reliant - wait for it - contacted Interpol.
That's how Dan'l Boone would'a handled it.
Oh, God.
Anyway, so now he's all about putting the fear of humans back into these resilient animals that will ultimately end up crushing his bones in their powerful canine jaws to get at all that luscious sedentary, "My ass drives everywhere" marrow.
Luckily, coyotes can't read or they'd die laughing at this.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 374px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_cODTxzY0ZGg/SuuNXRS9hzI/AAAAAAAACig/4NBFg_1sNSE/s400/ogrekick.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398564009253111602" />
Anyway, I've been sitting on this one for a few days now and, even though Carlos speaks from beyond the grave "Therein lies madness", I CAN NO LONGER REMAIN SILENT.
Sorry, just setting the Bozo-con mood.
I think my favorite is this nugget:
"Those people are idiots. It's real simple... when you leave your house, you should have a weapon on you. This poor musician girl didn't. She went outdoors, unarmed... she was food to the coyotes..."
I think this was written by a very frightened man.
It's sad. How much more energy would he have if he could just get the idea out of his head that the entire world is out to kill him or his family or his friends or cute French Canadian girls (Would he have cared if the evil dogs had eaten some homeless guy in Newark instead? I think not).
Oh, and I do so love to be called an idiot... by an idiot.

Knuckledusters

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 239px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cODTxzY0ZGg/S7oPnnZYrwI/AAAAAAAAC5E/ejH-tJH9veg/s400/knucks.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456691071777550082" />
Brass knuckles, the alleged "thug's weapon" was favored extensively by lads in wartime.
Example abound of Civil War knucks, cast from bullet lead around the campfire.
In the First World War they were used in trench raids and, I believe, to carry in one's pocket.
Kind of a Dumbo's feather.
All are solid, cast brass.

From the left, the first in the lineup is an old pattern based on earlier Chinese examples. This was a pattern, popular in late 19th century America, that I call "The Screaming Monkey".

The next was patterned after a knuckle duster lost, in all likelihood, during Britain's "Big Push" during the summer of 1916.
The original was found near Kaiser's Oak, near the village of Gommencourt in France.
It's an older, more archaic design, the finger loops all the same size and relatively small.

Moving right along. At the top of the photo is another First War example and my only "T" handle. The pattern I used to cast these was cast directly from an original, graciously provided by Dave Grant at knuckledusterbook.com.
This a very elegant design and the heaviest of the lot.
This is the only set I sell with graduated finger loops, therefore it can only be worn one way but is extremely comfortable.

Yet another Great War set. These are based on a photo of the original in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, UK.
This is the largest and roomiest of the four, still weighing slightly less than the previous.

Moving forward into the Second War, this is a reproduction of the BC 41 knuckleduster.
Assumed to be a companion to the famous knuckle knife of the same name, it suffers from the same lack of information surrounding the knife.
No one knows for sure but the belief is that BC 41, stamped both on knives and knucks, designated; British Commandos, 1941.
These are small and light but still with nice roomy finger stalls.
Available either with points or not.

$40 each shipping included
To order e-mail me
dbrock76@yahoo.com

Who is this guy?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 274px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cODTxzY0ZGg/Slzyj128gUI/AAAAAAAACOI/Jp1yvswWnCU/s400/imag1541.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358424354230927682" />
Pictured in the photo above is my dream shop.
It was part of the forge shop of the USS Prometheus, a Navy repair ship, circa 1920's.

"Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say I am strong" Joel 3:10

I like this verse. Unlike the similar ones in Isaiah and Micah, both of which say the opposite, this ones says something about what people here in Eugene, Oregon would call 'empowerment'.

My name is Dan Brock and I comprise a one man operation making reproductions of historical fighting knives and I also identify with the scriptures recycling aspect. It may be some ham-handed attempt at social responsibility or that I'm just too much of a Scot, but I try to use only reclaimed steel for my blades. Large ones are forged from leaf spring while the smaller blades start as files. Each blade is hand forged, hardened and tempered.
I strive to produce a quality product but I don't have a slavish devotion to 100% accuracy. This is partially because I have little access to original knives to study but also to make any resale as authentic antiques more difficult. Each knife is stamped with my makers mark and the year of manufacture and is, I feel, a true representation of the general spirit of the originals if not an exact replica.

Before I talk about ordering I need to say this: There are areas in our nation where governments are still trying to control behavior by the criminalization of inaminate objects. To this end, I take no responsibility for the legality of your purchase. In ordering you are stating that the knife you order is legal in your state and that you are of legal age to possess it.

The procedure for ordering, such as it is, is to simply e-mail me with your order, or any questions you may have.
I accept personal checks (no one's screwed me yet) or money orders. Or, you can pay by credit card through PayPal.
I've tried to sprinkle links to contact me liberally throughout the text.
They'll look like this:
"To order e-mail me
dbrock76@yahoo.com"
Thanks for looking.

Dan Brock
1383 Dalton Dr.
Eugene, OR
97404

dbrock76@yahoo.com

Hawks

These are examples of the tomahawks I've been making.
Both are forged from ball-peen hammer-heads and have hardened and tempered cutting edges while the remainder of the head remains soft.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cODTxzY0ZGg/SKthIGQfAXI/AAAAAAAABI8/_kvunL-4u6w/s400/Spike-hawk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236385783494934898" />
In the instance of the spike hawk pictured, the customer wanted a handle with lots of figure.
I used some western maple and compensated for the weakness inherent in "wild grain" by laminating in a strip of purpleheart down the center.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cODTxzY0ZGg/SKtingOqtpI/AAAAAAAABJE/aSUby3QD-TY/s400/PIPE-HAWK.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236387422554207890" />
This pipe-hawk is smokable.
The pommel is drilled down to the eye, with a bowl.
The hickory handle has been split, grooved then joined back together again.
